We arrived a little later than planned and Catriona had already lit the little wood burning stove for us so the hut was lovely and toasty when we arrived. This was a wonderful warm and cosy welcome on a cold night. We’d ordered the breakfast hamper which was fantastic value for money with delicious produce from their farm – what a treat! The attention to detail in this hut is spot on, everything is so beautifully made and it is fully equipped with everything you need for a luxurious stay. The Cotswold Lavender products were another highlight! The hut is situated in beautiful surroundings with an enclosed private garden which is great if you take a dog. There is also a lovely little outside area with BBQ and pizza oven which would be amazing if you stayed in the summer. It’s location is perfect for visiting both The Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds too. Catriona is a great host and I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to escape for a peaceful break away from it all.”

They then gifted us a night we added another and have just returned from our 2 day stay! Just perfect in every way. The interior feels quite spacious and has absolutely everything you could wish for and more with no compromise. Bed super comfortable. We had all weathers so used the very effective log stove while rain and wind battered away outside. But the hut is very well insulated and has heaters too if needed. Imaginatively created outside spaces to sit, relax, read, and walks from the door into the lovely rolling Warwickshire/Worcestershire countryside. We visited Hillers Farm shop at Catriona’s recommendation which we’d now definitely endorse, and enjoyed exploring Coughton Court. The owners Catriona and Alec are very friendly and welcoming and don’t intrude at all but are there on hand for questions and farm supplies. Recommend the apple juice and breakfasts ! We are a family of 4, already local to Worcestershire, but appreciated the location and all that the hut had to offer as much as any other family would! “ We had a lovely 2 nights stay at the Shepherd's Hut in October. We were extremely lucky with the beautiful autumn sunshine when we stayed but there was still a nip in the air, especially at night. This was not an issue at all as the hut was fully equipped with everything you need to stay nice and toasty, including a wood burner, electric blanket to warm the bed up and a radiator. Outside was a fire pit and seating area down the field, so we could sit outside, looking at the stars and toasting marshmallows….. pure bliss and exactly what we wanted! Catriona is a wonderful host and has done a fantastic job with the hut, she really has thought of everything and all the little touches she put in really added to the cosiness. We also fully recommend getting the breakfast as the farm eggs & sausages are amazing! We could have definitely stayed for longer. We were a family of 3, with our 3 year old daughter and we all fitted comfortably in the hut. Our daughter loved everything about the hut and keeps asking when we are going back! She loved the little bunk beds and the sheep toys, as well as all the toys and games provided in the hut. She especially loved running around outside playing with the tractors. Her favourite activity though was playing fetch with the very well behaved dog Evie and picking fresh eggs from the hens. Amazing farm experience for a little one to have! “ I stayed here with my two sisters and our children (6 children aged 2-7) for three nights in August 2018. We had use of the shepherds hut which sleeps four (although you can put a mattress on the floor to accommodate an extra child) and the bell tent in the adjacent field (just separated by a gate). We loved every minute of our stay. The shepherds hut was well equipped and we had everything we needed to stay comfortably. It is beautifully (hand!)made and decorated with great thought put into each and every aspect of the accommodation. The kitchen was compact but very well equipped and the bathroom was lovely. Outside there is a fire pit to keep warm in the evenings and toast marshmallows over; and in the field with the bell tent there is a swing set and a trampoline for the children to play on, as well as the whole of the field itself, where we played football, cricket, tennis, badminton etc. There are many walks you can do from the farm to explore the countryside if you want to. Catriona is an amazing and thoughtful host and checked we were happy each day, ensuring we had everything we needed. In addition she invited us all to collect eggs from the chickens and pick tomatoes from the greenhouse, which we all loved, especially the children. The children also enjoyed getting to know Evie, Catriona and Alec’s dog, and loved to play with her. In the locality there are lots of places to explore and good options for eating out, and Catriona is happy to give recommendations of things to do, but it is also the ideal spot for switching off and relaxing – perfect for anyone really! We had a wonderful time at Abberton Shepherd’s Hut and can’t wait to visit again! Thankyou so much for making our stay so lovely!”

“ I spent two nights at Abberton Shepherd's Hut as a treat to myself (a.k.a. a bit of peace and quiet away from the husband and kids!) and it was exactly what I needed, and so much more than I expected. The setting is beautiful – so calm, tranquil and private, yet the owner Catriona is just a couple of minutes' walk or an SMS away if anything is needed, and nothing is too much trouble for her. The hut itself is beautifully decorated in a traditional style, but with discreet mod-cons that you wouldn't necessarily expect in a shepherd's hut, such as a small television, USB charging sockets, slow cooker, hairdryer, shaving points in the bathroom, etc etc. None of these things take away from the cosy charm of the hut, they simply enhance it by making it more comfortable. The bathroom was well-equipped, with lovely towels and mini toiletries and the kitchen had everything from a full-sized oven to a spare bottle of wine and G&T (available to purchase at a small cost via a courtesy arrangement – in case guests run out mid-evening!). Evie, the farm dog was lovely company and had impeccable manners. The bed was delightfully comfortable, with quality bedding (very important!), and the whole cottage was meticulously clean. It's clear that Catriona has put her heart and soul into the hut, and she goes the extra mile to make the stay special for all her guests. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abberton.”

“ What a perfectly formed little slice of heaven! Can’t recommend the shepherd’s hut enough. Peace and quiet, beautiful surroundings and despite the compact size every little detail is perfect so thoughtfully put together that you’ll find everything you need, even if, like we did, the weather isn’t kind and you end spending a fair bit of time in the hut. The wood burner is so cosy, and Catriona made sure we had plenty of games and activities to keep the children occupied. They also enjoyed feeding the bull, and collecting eggs (and our breakfast of freshly laid eggs and sausages from the farm went down a storm). The (huge) enclosed field means that the kids can have some freedom (again with plenty of activities to keep them busy) while the grown ups relax and watch on. Lots and lots to do nearby: beautiful walks on the doorstep, the kids loved filling their water bottles with spring water and walking in The Malvern hills, Stratford is only a short drive away… we will definitely need to come back as there was so much there to keep us going that we ran out of time. We’d not been sure about the bunk bed size for my 11 year old, and although he did fit (just) he ended up having ‘the best nights’ sleep of his life’ apparently (all that fresh air!) on Catriona’s comfy mattress on the floor. “ From the moment we saw this shepherd's hut we fell in love. An absolutely beautiful and well equipped holiday accommodation in such a picturesque and peaceful location. We booked a 2 night break for our wedding anniversary and took our 3 year old along for a relaxing break. The hut met our every need and you can tell such time and effort has gone into setting it up to cater for everyone and every eventuality. The double bed was so comfy and even come equipped with electric blankets, not that we needed them. Above the double bed are the cutest 2 bunk beds for small children. Our son did fall out of his bunk on the 1st night but soon learnt to keep himself in bed. The kitchen is well equipped and even had a full sized oven. There is also a big metal fire pit in the bbq area, and tools to cook over it which we did on our 2nd night. Ample logs provided for the fire pit and wood burner in the hut, not that we needed it due to the gorgeous weather we had on our break. Catriona, the host, makes sure you are well looked after, providing initial provisions of tea, coffee, milk and cereals. We also took her up on her offer to provide breakfast package as well which includes eggs collected from the free range hens on the farm and locally produced sausages. We were allowed the privilege of being able to spend some time with Evie the farm sheep dog, whose energy was only surpassed by our sons. Catriona also helped my son collect eggs from the hens on his tour round the farm. I highly recommend this shepherd's hut to anyone. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway then this is the place for you. We spent lovely evenings Sat outside by the fire, with a glass or two, listening to the local wildlife and watching the sunset. Would love to revisit and hope to stay longer next time.”

It was very clean, had all the essentials you could need, including bread, butter, milk, eggs. Sausages from the farm were very nice. It was so nice to have the facilities to cook in the shepherds hut, and have bathroom facilities within the hut. Hut was always cosy and nice and warm, and there was plenty of wood provided for the wood burner. Catriona and Alec were great hosts, always happy to help and replenish anything we had ran out of. As part of the New Years package, Catriona made us a lovely home made meal, it was delicious. We were also provided with a bottle of champagne and lifts to and from a local pub of our choice. Hut was in a great location; nice and peaceful and close enough to visit nearby places of interest such as Ledbury, Evesham, the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds. We would definitely like to return for another stay. We stayed for 3 nights, but it is somewhere we could stay for a week. “ My girlfriend and I stayed in the Shepherds Hut last week for a couple of nights and it was wonderful! It's stunning inside and out and no detail has been overlooked. We looked at several huts like this and this was by far the best. The location is amazing, set on a working farm and surrounded by fields. Alec and Catriona are the perfect hosts, very welcoming and made our stay that bit better. They treated us to some local meats and homemade soup! They even lent us their adorable collie Evie to walk around the farm. The local area is beautiful, we wandered to a couple of pubs nearby and took a ride out to The Chase Inn with a incredible view from the rear garden. I cannot recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning! Thanks again, Scott & Misia – London”

“ Just to say what a lovely time my daughter and I had in your Shepherds Hut . It was perfect in every way for the peaceful retreat we were looking for . The Hut was beautiful , so many thoughtful touches and details from the fixtures and fittings to the breakfast goods left for us in the fridge .The wood burner was very efficient and made the cold evening very cosy indeed .The local village was very scenic with n some pleasant walks .
